Johnny Cash was one of five people who were paid tribute to at the 1996 Kennedy Center Honors. They give praise to those performing artists who have made a major impact on American culture. No doubt Cash fits the bill, and his tribute was nothing short of spectacular.
Various artists got onstage and sang his songs, while Johnny sat in the crowd with none other than Bill Clinton who was president at the time. Then Rosanne Cash hit the stage. She began talking about her dad, then began singing “I Walk The Line”. This was one heck of an emotional tribute and it brought Johnny to tears! Check out this classic tribute that surely no one who witnessed it that night will ever forget.
