In 2014, country music fans around the globe were delighted when superstar Garth Brooks came backwith his first new album in 13 years. To promote Man Against Machine, the country legend stopped by “The Ellen Show” show to talk about his life over the past decade and perform his classic hit “Aint Goin’ Down (Til’ The Sun Comes Up).” But he didn’t stop there…
Brooks surprised Ellen and her audience with an incredibly emotional acoustic performance of his new single, “Mom,” which tells the story of a conversation between God and an unborn baby about to be sent down to earth from heaven. “And when God describes what a mom is… it kills me,” he says. Brooks’ own mom, Colleen Carroll Brooks, died in 1999 after battling cancer.
DeGeneres is no stranger to emotional performances or stories on her show, but Brooks’ delivered his new song in such a touching way that it brought tears to her eyes. Watch the unbelievably moving clip below, and the same might just happen to you.
