Colorectal cancer is one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers. Each year, there are around 95,000 new cases of colon cancer and 40,000 new cases of rectal cancer in the United States. Almost half the patients who get this diagnosis then die of it. This is due to, among other things, the fact that conventional treatments such as surgery or chemotherapy aren't always successful with all cancer types. On top of that, they also have various side effects.
