Jimmy and Billie Breland’s marriage was a happy one. The Mississippi couple still professed deep mutual love for each other after 60 years. Jimmy had been a Baptist minister for students at the local university for 40 years, Billie a public school teacher.

But in January of 2015 Billie’s health began to deteriorate. Jimmy moved to the hospital with Billie to spend every moment of the day by her side. But at last, at 83, Billie passed away.

Two days later, Jimmy was working through his beloved deceased wife’s belongings when he found her checkbook. According to her friends and family, Billie used to write reminders for herself and you’d find them all over the house. And true to form, here was one of Billie’s notes, or at least that’s what Jimmy thought at first.
This is what Billie chose to say to her husband at the end of her life — which she intended him to read when she was gone:

“Please don’t cry because I died! Smile because I lived! Know that I’m in a happy place! Know that we will meet again! I will see you there!”
Such simple words, they deeply moved her loving husband and gave him comfort in the moment of his loss.
After their grandson posted it, people just couldn’t stop reading it. It’s already been shared more than 1,700 times. Who wouldn’t want a love like that, one that lasts a lifetime and even beyond!
